Happy Wednesday

Filed under: Uncategorized — jdoolittle @ 1:31 pm

I was browsing Feedster looking for daily Rumi poems. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did discover a blog entitled Happy Wednesday. The blog has weekly inspirational quotes and life tips. It’s kinda hokie and it isn’t for everyone, but if you’re looking for a pick-me-up or reminder that life is its own source of hapiness, check it out.

Freedoms?

I was perusing Friends World EAC blogs this morning and came across Ayme Frye’s most recent post:

this speech blew my mind, check it out.its al gore speaking on bush’s wiretapping practices.

I read it, but I think it means things are even more grim than they are. Rather than whistle-blowers, we need politicians who will make it their goal and mission to uphold American ethics and values expressed in the constitution.

I’m going to try linking

Filed under: Uncategorized — jdoolittle @ 3:58 pm

I just learned about this new thing I can use for my blog. “Linking” is the process of connecting one’s blog to other blogs or websites. So far, linking is a fun thing. I also learned about block-quoting, which is a way to set off quotes from one’s own work, from Aaron, my Web Publishing teacher, but I don’t have a legitimate occasion to use the process.

Creative Writing Class

Filed under: Uncategorized — jdoolittle @ 9:56 am

I had my first Creativer Writing Workshop yesterday. I have an assignment to write a page of fictional narative without using the letter “e”–does anyone remember who did that when he had writer’s block, and then ended up producing his best known work in his career? The assignment seems cool at first, but then you realize that you can’t use words like “he” or “she” or “the” or “be.” Then you relize that you can’t use words like “dapper” or “dasterdly” and then all hope is lost–or rather, all “hop” is lost. I woundr, would you b abl to rad what I writ without the application of the lttr ” “? Hmmm…. I’ll inform this blog on my progrss.
