Definition of Pleochromism:
The property of an anisotropic crystal to absorb different wavelengths of light, and thus have different colors, depending on its orientation
Anisotropic, opposite of isotropic:
Not possessing the same properties in all directions. Because of its fibrous structure wood is anisotropic.
Lack of spherical symetry, having a preffered direction of magnetic orientation.
